Shinrin yoku, which is called Forest Bathing in Japanese, was developed in the 80s and means you experience the forest with all your senses. Research shows that forest bathing helps the body reduce stress, improve the immune system, lower blood pressure, and increase a sense of well-being. For forest bathing, we recommend you go to the very end of Strömsholmen, an incredibly beautiful and quiet place for total relaxation in the forest and nature.
In our busy daily lives, many people head out into nature to recharge. Forest bathing is a great way to do it! Leave your phone in your room and treat yourself to a relaxing forest bath in our beautiful surroundings. Feel free to bring a blanket or a sitting pad if you like.
Lie down in the moss and gaze up at the swaying treetops. Close your eyes and engage one sense at a time. Listen to the birds, the wind, the movement of the trees, the rustling of the leaves. Observe the colors, how the sunlight filters through the foliage, or the natural patterns in nature. Notice the scents around you. Taste the wood sorrel, wild garlic, or simply the fresh air. Feel the tree trunks or dip your toes in the water.
Be present with your hearing, taste, smell, and touch. Sit on a tree stump. Hug a tree. Take time to just exist. Breathe. Feel nature with all your senses.
Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress and increase our level of relaxation. Some proven effects include becoming more relaxed, achieving better and longer sleep, regulated blood pressure, promoted heart and blood vessel health, improved concentration and memory, and increased energy. Nature also helps with anxiety and low spirits.
At the very end of Strömsholmen, you'll find our forest Bath in the Stockholm archipelago, surrounded by beautiful pine forest that smells fresh all year round. You can enjoy a forest Bath either by yourself or with others.
