More about Villa Berg
The Jugendvillan has thirteen guest rooms divided into 11 double rooms, including a mini suite, and two single rooms. Each of the rooms has a private bathroom.
The generous and inviting kitchen is the natural heart and focal point of the house. This is where the chef prepares your meals and where you eat the snack tray on arrival and breakfast the following day. Dinner is served in the magnificent glazed veranda overlooking Marholmsviken.
A jetty with a bathing ladder below the villa and a relaxation area with sauna on the ground floor of the house, invite you to sea bathing all year round in the picturesque archipelago environment for complete relaxation. Shared access to the relaxation area and associated hot tub is included in the experience.
The meal experience
The Bath Hotel Villa Berg is always booked with a half-board package which includes overnight accommodation, a snack box on arrival, a 3-course dinner and breakfast. All meals are prepared by a chef in the rustic and homely kitchen.
The dining experience is presented in collaboration with the renowned food creators Nichlas and Oscar at Loén who describe their food philosophy as follows: "With us, the raw material and the guest are always in focus. We pick the best of the season from the most knowledgeable suppliers and prepare the food in a familiar and genuine way. We always provide a high level of service and the dishes are playful and innovative. Classic basics and cooking techniques are the basis of all our cooking, and we never compromise on preparing everything from scratch."
The radar couple behind Loén, Nichlas and Oscar, have run the restaurant Loén in Stockholm's inner city and have received several awards, including in SvD, which has raised their food to the clouds.
Catering staff are also available in the villa. Recommended drinks will be added.

GOOD TO KNOW
- For adults only. We have an 18-year age limit in Badhotellet Villa Berg
- Rooms are TV-free - the idea is to socialize in the villa's public areas or explore the island while you're here
- Space in guest rooms is limited, so pack light
- It is not possible to set up extra beds in the rooms
- Dogs are not allowed in Villa Berg for allergy reasons
- Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out before 11:00
- We can of course accommodate vegetarian requests and the most common allergies, but cannot accommodate lifestyle diets. Please contact us well in advance to notify us of any allergies and special diets.

The story of Villa Berg
The listed Villa Berg has a special place in our hearts here on Marholmen. Named after the wholesaler Nils Berg, it is designed in a contemporary Art Nouveau style from the early 1900s, an architectural form inspired by the irregular and organic shapes of nature. The architecture blends in well with the island's rich vegetation that extends down to the shoreline and pier.
"Liquor may not be carried or consumed in the homes. Smoking and playing cards in the halls and corridors of the homes is strongly discouraged". These were the rules for those who used to visit the Holiday Home. But there were many other things to do. Bathing, fishing, playing board games, playing the guitar, finger-hooking, or reading. The holiday home had its own library where guests could borrow books.
The holiday home opened in 1915. Here, workers and their families could stay and eat for cheap. Drivers, tailors, engravers, typographers, firemen, railwaymen, municipal workers and the occasional ombudsman came here. Semesterhemmet had the most guests in the 1940s, when two-week vacations became law. In the summer of 1940, 240 adults and 32 children stayed here. Two decades later, Semesterhemmet had barely half as many guests.
The holiday home was designed by architect Carl Alfred Danielsson-Bååk, who was also responsible for Grosshandlargården and Strandpaviljongen. The villa was restored in the early 1990s and then painted in its original colors. During 2022-2023, the villa's exterior was carefully restored back to its former glory.
October 2024 marks the next step in the villa's history, when, after a careful and respectful renovation, it reopened with a new concept. Villa Berg's distinctive architecture, interior design, atmosphere and surroundings, rooted deep in Swedish working-class history, have been preserved during the careful renovation. The color palette consists of the villa's original colors and the interior is a mix of reused furniture from the villa's heyday and timeless design classics.
