Our history since
Marholmen is a historical site created by wholesaler Nils Berg in the early 20th century, together with his wife Hanna. In 1913, they decided to donate their beloved island Marholmen to build a rest home for working class women here .
READ MORE about our historyYou choose how comfortable you want to be. Do you want to stay in our hotel with a sea view and live all-inclusive, or stay in one of our lovely self-catering cottages or villas? Or why not combine the best of both worlds - have your own cabin and indulge yourself. Because that's how it is here on Marholmen - you shape your stay just the way you want it. Life is simple on our island.
Historically, there has always been plenty to do on an archipelago island. Even though we are no longer farming here on Marholmen, there is a wide range of activities to do, explore and experience all year round. Or you can do nothing. You choose.
READ MORE ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIESNils Berg donated the rest of Marholmen and his fortune to Birkagården Folk High School to promote public education and especially "the educational needs of women working in factories". Today we still honor Nils' will by offering a place for meetings, trainings, conferences, kickoffs and events of all kinds.
Our meeting and conference facilitiesIt was love at first sight when Nils Berg saw his Hanna through a window on Drottninggatan in Stockholm at the end of the 19th century. And it was largely thanks to Hanna that Marholmen became a place of recreation and rest for Sweden's workers. What better way to manage her legacy than to offer a beautiful place to celebrate life's milestones?
