No, Marholmen is connected to the mainland by a 14-meter long car bridge. No ferry needed! If you have your own boat, you can dock at our guest jetty.

Just remember to always register your vehicle at the reception when you arrive!

If you're just visiting the island for a walk, to take your dog out, or for a swim, you can pay for parking using the Aimo Park app.

If you've booked one of our cabins, feel free to drive up to it when you arrive to unload your car. Afterwards, park in our large free parking lot or the parking space belonging to the house. For those who have booked Villa Berg, Villa Hanna, Villa Viken, Villa Ekbacken, or Gula villan, there's a private parking spot right by the villa.

Charging Stations for Electric/Hybrid Cars

Here's how the sauna works

By far the most common question we get is: how does the sauna work? Here is the answer:

Link to a video showing step by step how to do it >>

There are two knobs on the heater, the left one controls the heat and the right one controls the time.

Temperature setting - min/max – adjust to your desired temperature up or down. Usually, 70-90 degrees is perfect.

Please note! Setting the temperature too high will cause our overheating protection to trip and require staff to reset it.

Time setting

You can set the sauna so it's warm when you get back to your cabin after the day's activities. Here's how:

  • 1-4 (white marked) & 1-8 (black marked). The first numbers 1-4 (white marked) start the sauna immediately, and it will run for the number of hours indicated by the digit.
  • When you set 1-8 (highlighted in black), the timer function starts, and the sauna will begin after the number of hours it's set to (e.g., 3 will start the sauna in 3 hours).
  • The timer automatically switches off at position 0. You can turn it back and forth at any time, for example, to manually switch off the sauna (turn to 0) or to change an already made setting.

Heads up! Remember to pour water on the stones gently and a little at a time, otherwise, the residual current device might trip.

Make sure no towels or other flammable items are near the sauna heater, as this poses a fire risk.

Here's how to light the fireplace

Watch a step-by-step video on how to light the stove >>

  1. Open the damper by moving the control all the way to the right.
  2. Put a couple of logs in the stove and stack the finely chopped wood crosswise in an airy manner over them
  3. Use kindling and light it in the center of the woodpile.
  4. Close the door. A little soot may form on the glass. This is normal and will disappear after a while.
  5. The damper should be fully open for 3-5 minutes or until the wood is burning properly. After that, the air supply for the damper can be reduced for longer burning time.
  6. Wood should be added when the fire changes to a bed of embers. Add 2-3 logs. Place the logs diagonally on top of each other so that the fire can easily spread. Then close the door.

Keep in mind:
Always close the damper when the fireplace is not in use.
Never close the damper before the embers have burnt out.

Firewood is available for purchase at the front desk and can also be ordered when you make your reservation.

Our Superior XL Double Rooms have a sofa bed for one guest, meaning they can accommodate up to 3 adults.

If you prefer to stay in a cabin or one of our villas, we can accommodate 6-22 adults.

  • As a guest at Marholmen, you agree to show consideration for our other guests and staff by following the rules, instructions, and regulations that apply on the island.
  • The person who made the booking is responsible for any damage to the property, its furnishings, or any costs incurred by Marholmen due to you or anyone else in your party being careless or negligent, such as a fire alarm false call-out.
  • Between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, all guests on the island should be able to sleep well, which means the noise level should be low – no disturbing music or shouting outdoors. If complaints about disturbing behavior are received by Marholmen, we have the right to immediately evict the guest from the accommodation/area if correction is not made immediately after being told. In that case, no refund will be given for the remaining stay.
  • In our spa and Bath areas, it should be quiet and peaceful, and everyone should wear swimwear for everyone's comfort and enjoyment.
  • If you're not happy with our service, please contact the reception first so any issues can be resolved during your stay.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to book or enter into an agreement with Marholmen.
