Marholmen has a long and proud tradition as a rest home for working women and men. In 1912, the couple Nils and Hanna Berg donated the island to LO to give working wives and working women the opportunity to rest. A few years later, the activities were expanded to include a Folk Education Home here on the island.
In 1983, the Swedish Municipal Workers' Union bought Marholmen from LO to build a leisure facility for its members. You can read more about the history of Marholmen here.
We are carrying on the tradition and even today you, as a member of Kommunal, are welcome to book a well-deserved rest at Marholmen at favorable prices all year round. The offer also applies to those who are members of SKPF, the Swedish Association of Municipal Pensioners.
