Developing Marholmen our vision—to become Sweden’s best archipelago destination—year-round is both an incredibly exciting and incredibly challenging task for all of us who work here at Marholmen. We have set a very ambitious plan extending through 2027 for how we will get there, and now we are nearly finished with the largest and most challenging step—renovating and expanding the main building.

Soon, Marholmen will Marholmen a better guest experience than ever before, and we hope that you, as a returning visitor, will feel right at home in “your” Marholmen. We hope you’ll love it as much as we do!

What have we done?

In early 2022, we launched an ambitious development plan through 2027 that included:

• The Main Building. Renovation and expansion of the main building, including the kitchen, restaurant, bar, lobby, reception area, and conference rooms
• SPA. Renovation of a spa, including an infinity pool
• Villa Berg. Complete interior and exterior renovation of the historically designated Art Nouveau villa Villa Berg the opening of a summer spa hotel
• Villa Hanna. Complete interior and exterior renovation of the architectural gem Villa Hanna, built in 1905
• Other villas. Complete interior and exterior renovation of all five remaining villas on the island
• 7° Bath Bastu. Transform three dilapidated outbuildings into the 7° Bath Bastu outdoor bathing experience
• The Beach Pavilion. Interior renovation of the entire building.
• Beda's Flower Meadow. Development of Beda's Flower Meadow in collaboration with Kärodlat, which has made us self-sufficient in cut flowers year-round
• Brand development. A complete rebranding of our brand and our visual identity
• Miscellaneous. And a whole range of other activities and improvements, both large and small, including everything from renovating bridges, building restrooms and showers at our campsites, installing composting toilets at our glamping sites, hiring a pastry chef, renovating the adventure golf course, and repairing all the fences.

Between 2019, the pre-pandemic year, and 2024, Marholmen’s revenue increased from SEK 54 million to SEK 98 million. Given the opportunities presented by the major renovation, we are aiming to increase revenue to SEK 120 million.

New lobby and reception area

The new lobby has been expanded by several hundred square feet, providing more space for friends, families, and colleagues to socialize—something that was previously lacking.

The New Marholmen Takes Shape

By mid-July, Marholmen will be ready to welcome visitors following a complete renovation of its facilities, the addition of a new infinity pool, and an expanded range of services—an experience that complements the island’s other aquatic attractions perfectly.

During the renovation, we are building on Marholmen’s interior design philosophy, which is rooted in the four elements of nature. Earth, fire, air, and water also find their way into the spa, creating a holistic experience of weight, warmth, flow, and stillness.rnrnIn addition to remodeling to improve the flow for our spa guests, the biggest news is that we are building a new infinity pool with a view of the water on what is currently the spa’s terrace. The steam room, dry sauna, light therapy room, treatment rooms, and the small hot tub will remain, and will be complemented by new spa experiences such as foot baths and IR chairs.
