Party at Marholmen around the last turn of the century

Our history since

1900

Marholmen is a historic place created by merchant Nils Berg in the early 1900s, together with his wife Hanna. In 1913, they decided to donate their beloved island, Marholmen, to build a convalescent home for working-class women here.

Conferences, kick-offs, meetings & corporate events

A few years after Hanna's death, Nils Berg donated the rest of Marholmen and his fortune to Birkagården Folk High School to promote public education and especially "the educational needs of factory women". Even today, we honor Nils' will by offering a welcoming place for meetings, training, conferences, kick-offs and events of all kinds.

Our Meeting & Conference Options

Celebrate life's milestones.

It was love at first sight when Nils Berg spotted his Hanna through a window on Drottninggatan in Stockholm back in the late 1800s. And it was largely thanks to Hanna that Marholmen became a place for recreation and rest for Sweden's workers. What better way to honor her legacy than by offering a beautiful place to celebrate all of life's milestones?

Action or relaxation – what do you want to do when you're here?

Historically, there has always been plenty to do for those who live on an archipelago island in Roslagen. That's not necessarily the case anymore, but despite the fact that we haven't been farming here on Marholmen for a long time, there is a wide range of activities to do, explore and experience all year round. Or you can do absolutely nothing. You choose.

Det var som en varm kram! Allt var bra, mjukt och trevligt! <3

Just like the sign on the road to Marholmen that reads “Turn in—Breathe out”—we breathed out and left all our stress behind. It was harmony, calm, a retreat. Peaceful and healing. Marholmen is good for the soul and the body… Thank you for being there.

The surrounding environment is really lovely. There are walking paths all around Marholmen, and exercise trails out on Strömsholmen, which is connected to Marholmen. You'll find playgrounds, beach volleyball, football, and adventure golf. The hotel is modern and comfortable with many social areas and a crackling fireplace. The restaurant is top-notch.

Had a weekend with the motorhome and a good parking spot. The hotel is probably really nice and a good place for couples and families, with all sorts of activities like tennis, mini golf, kayaking, football, fishing, and a spa, which was really good. The food at the restaurant was delicious; we had a three-course buffet and it was incredibly tasty.

We just wanted to say thank you for two fantastic days with you. We're truly more than satisfied, and several of us said it was the best conference venue they'd ever been to. Everything gets 10 out of 10 points from us – the activity, the food, the sauna, the spa, the rooms, the venue, the staff's hospitality, the location, etc. So please say hello to everyone and a big thank you from all of us!
